Celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight at Aldi (29th February – 13th March)‏

Everyone gets a fair deal when you buy Fairtrade. Aldi has been sourcing Fairtrade for over 5 years, helping hundreds of farmers, workers and their families get a fair deal for the products they harvest, as well as access to education, medicine and more.

Sourcing Fairtrade coffee from Costa Rica and Roses from Ethiopia and Kenya means Aldi can be sure farmers get a good price for the products they harvest. So, let’s celebrate 20 years of Fairtrade in Ireland and look forward to another 20 more!

Fairtrade at Aldi is much more than just a label. It’s a way to support farmers in the developing world and help them get a better price for their products including:

  • Specially Selected Colombian Fairtrade Coffee €1.99 per 100g
  • Fairtrade Tea 80s €1.39 per 250g
  • Fairtrade Organic Bananas €1.59 per 6 pack

Did you know? Aldi is the only Irish retailer buying Fairtrade flowers from Ethiopia. Aldi’s Fairtrade Roses are sourced from the Sher Project. Sitting on 140 hectares, the project is able to provide a school, hospital and leisure facilities for the growing workforce and their families. Aldi is proud to say that its roses are fair for all.

Aoife Habenicht, Buying Director from Aldi Ireland, visited Ziway, Ethiopia last year to open a new shop selling staple foods at discounted prices to workers’ families.

“This project is part funded by Aldi Ireland contributions and the community is literally blossoming thanks to Aldi and Fairtrade,” said Aoife. “Last year Aldi sold over 2 million stems and helped hundreds of workers and their families find specialist medical care and access to education. It was a privilege for me personally to be able to witness this first hand and to see the families that have benefitted from the sales of flowers in our stores throughout Ireland.”

  • Fairtrade Roses €5.99 per bouquet
  • Fairtrade Mixed Bouquet €4.99 per bouquet (Specialbuy on sale 25th February)

Fairtrade Specialbuys on sale Thursday 25th February:
